Family Dogs

We Are Family Animal Rescue accepts dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds, and ages.  Dogs are housed in foster home enviornments so that each one can experience "family life" while he/she waits for a forever family.  This close contact with the dogs not only reduces the stress on the animals in our care, but also allows us the opportunity to know each dog personally: likes, dislikes, quirks, fears, and favorite chew toys!

The adoption process begins with an application including personal and vet references.  Once the application has been approved, a visit with the dog at the foster home or neutral area will be scheduled.  References will be checked and a home visit will preceed any and all adoption placements.  Once all adoption conditions are met, a nonrefundable $150 adoption fee is required to help cover the costs of vet care.  We Are Family then works with the adoptive family to see that the dog's transition into his/her new home is a smooth and successful one.  All of our animals have a "no questions asked" return policy at any time.

Family Dog:  Hannah Jane

Hannah is a 4 year old petite, female basset hound.  She was pulled from a local shelter on December 21, 2008.  After being abandoned, she spent two weeks at a crowded shelter, during which time she had her three puppies taken from her and caught kennel cough.  She was scheduled to be euthanized within a few days' time due to the overcrowding in the facility.  To make matters worse, she had been labeled "unadoptable" due to her fear issues, particularly towards men.
But, We Are Family Animal Rescue stepped up and pulled this beautiful lady.  We could hardly blame her for being afraid after all she'd been through.  She is now being fostered and is making slow but steady progress in overcoming her fear.  Her surgical scars are all healed and her kennel cough is just a distant memory.  Our vet always comments on her beautiful red coat, she is one lovely lady.
Hannah's perfect home would be classified as calm and patient.  She gets very quickly attached to her caretakers and loves nothing more than snuggling under the covers next to someone she loves, "cookies," and belly rubs!  Hannah still shows signs of having experienced trauma in her earlier life, for this reason a home with no small children or other dogs would be best.
Hannah is spayed and current on all vaccines.  She is available for adoption as a Special Needs Dog, as she will always require some extra TLC.  If you are interested in learning more about Hannah Jane, contact us today!
